I don't agree. I think that competition, as long as it remains healthy and doesn't involve unethical/immoral acts, it great for society. Most of the inventions, companies you see around you was created through competition. The world would stop progressing without competition.
Darren:due 2 the competition, our world bcum advanced and advanced.bt....as u noe, the pollution getting worst from day 2 day, bcos of wad????cos of technology rite????then hw is the technology cum, from???isnt due 2 the competition??? then in conclution, technology has cos earth unhealthy due 2 the greedy of human being....
Pollution it seems, it one of the most common and unfounded claims that is used against science and technology. It's wrong. Here's why:
Out of all technologies, the only one that is responsible for our pollution is oil aka black gold. It is such a great source of energy, yet it is responsible for the emissions of C02, plastic is created using oil etc. Tell me any other scientific product that actually harms the environment.
But is oil pure science anymore? No, it isn't. Since the technology for refining oil as fuel appeared, it has become a very political thing. Companies and government frequently use underhanded tactics to gain control over oil, because by controlling oil, they can control YOUR LIFE. But that's only oil. To say that technology is bad is plain ignorance. You may as well throw your computer, phone, books, car, home away, as they are products of science & tech. ;-)
Back to the topic of competition, anyway. Do you really think that competition is responsible for pollution? The founding of oil isn't related to competition. Even if the world was fully cooperative, no one can ignore the benefits of oil. Surely they're going to use it, since there are no alternatives. Take away oil, and your take away electricity, vehicles, plastic, handphones, computers etc. My point here is technology causes pollution only because we have no other choice, not because of cooperation.
PS: Wake up, you're in the real world. Competition has always existed, still exists, and will exist forever into the future, as long as life still exists.
